About

A church of Christ, Loving God, Loving People, Loving Truth

We’re happy you found us and look forward to meeting you in person.

Our aim is to follow the teaching of Jesus Christ and become like him.  The Bible is filled with instructions for individuals and churches.  One principle that we particularly strive to promote within and outside our congregational meetings is a sincere love for one another.  We see this in

1 Thessalonians 4:9-12,

“Now concerning brotherly love…you have been taught by God to love one another…and to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we instructed you, so that you may walk properly before outsiders and be dependent on no one.”

As we follow the path of Jesus through the Bible we find no other source for spiritual guidance for our lives and our collective worship.

We believe that it’s important to provide a scriptural reference for everything we practice. Our goal is to present the truth about Jesus Christ to everyone who will listen.  We know that everyone is in need of His peace and saving grace because we have all done things that are wrong.  We cannot overcome or fix our own sin.  Only God can do that.  We desire for everyone to be saved and to become part of Jesus Christ’s church, the family of God.

The Morehead City church strives to:

  • Be obedient to God’s word (1 Peter 1:14-16 14 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance,  15 but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior;  16 because it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”)
  • Speak as the oracles of God (1 Peter 4:11 11 Whoever speaks, let him speak, as it were, the utterances of God; whoever serves, let him do so as by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.)
  • Worship the one true and living God (John 4:23-24 23 “But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers.  24 “God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”)
  • Gain Godly wisdom and understanding (Colossians 1:9-12 9 For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,  10 so that you may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;  11 strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; joyously  12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.)
